but shewed first unto them of damascus , and at jerusalem , and throughout all the coasts of judaea , and then to the gentiles , that they should repent and turn to god , and do works meet for repentance .
and how shall they preach , except they be sent ? as it is written , how beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace , and bring glad tidings of good things !
for the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of god : and if it first begin at us , what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of god ?
( for after all these things do the gentiles seek : ) for your heavenly father knoweth that ye have need of all these things .
saying , let us alone ; what have we to do with thee , thou jesus of nazareth ? art thou come to destroy us ? i know thee who thou art ; the holy one of god .
and jesus answering said unto them , suppose ye that these galilaeans were sinners above all the galilaeans , because they suffered such things ?
and when the townclerk had appeased the people , he said , ye men of ephesus , what man is there that knoweth not how that the city of the ephesians is a worshipper of the great goddess diana , and of the image which fell down from jupiter ?
and one of them that stood by drew a sword , and smote a servant of the high priest , and cut off his ear .
and when the day began to wear away , then came the twelve , and said unto him , send the multitude away , that they may go into the towns and country round about , and lodge , and get victuals : for we are here in a desert place .
howbeit the most high dwelleth not in temples made with hands ; as saith the prophet .
one that ruleth well his own house , having his children in subjection with all gravity .
therefore we were comforted in your comfort : yea , and exceedingly the more joyed we for the joy of titus , because his spirit was refreshed by you all .
rejoice , and be exceeding glad : for great is your reward in heaven : for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you .

and the other disciples came in a little ship ; ( for they were not far from land , but as it were two hundred cubits , ) dragging the net with fishes .
then said pilate unto him , hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee ?
opening and alleging , that christ must needs have suffered , and risen again from the dead ; and that this jesus , whom i preach unto you , is christ .
hearken ; behold , there went out a sower to sow .
and when they had mocked him , they took off the purple from him , and put his own clothes on him , and led him out to crucify him .
the elder women as mothers ; the younger as sisters , with all purity .
bless them which persecute you : bless , and curse not .
why should it be thought a thing incredible with you , that god should raise the dead ?
yet if any man suffer as a christian , let him not be ashamed ; but let him glorify god on this behalf .
and they understood none of these things : and this saying was hid from them , neither knew they the things which were spoken .
of whom i have no certain thing to write unto my lord . wherefore i have brought him forth before you , and specially before thee , o king agrippa , that , after examination had , i might have somewhat to write .
then came to him his mother and his brethren , and could not come at him for the press .
and it came to pass , as he spake these things , a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice , and said unto him , blessed is the womb that bare thee , and the paps which thou hast sucked .
these all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication , with the women , and mary the mother of jesus , and with his brethren .
and the disciples were astonished at his words . but jesus answereth again , and saith unto them , children , how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of god !
ye have heard that it hath been said , thou shalt love thy neighbour , and hate thine enemy .
and the lord said unto the servant , go out into the highways and hedges , and compel them to come in , that my house may be filled .
and we are his witnesses of these things ; and so is also the holy ghost , whom god hath given to them that obey him .
and being made perfect , he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him .
jesus saith unto her , go , call thy husband , and come hither .
o wretched man that i am ! who shall deliver me from the body of this death ?
then answered peter and said unto him , declare unto us this parable .
as it is written , there is none righteous , no , not one .
i know both how to be abased , and i know how to abound : every where and in all things i am instructed both to be full and to be hungry , both to abound and to suffer need .

remember them which have the rule over you , who have spoken unto you the word of god : whose faith follow , considering the end of their conversation .
all scripture is given by inspiration of god , and is profitable for doctrine , for reproof , for correction , for instruction in righteousness .

neither do men put new wine into old bottles : else the bottles break , and the wine runneth out , and the bottles perish : but they put new wine into new bottles , and both are preserved .
and they sent out unto him their disciples with the herodians , saying , master , we know that thou art true , and teachest the way of god in truth , neither carest thou for any man : for thou regardest not the person of men .
neither murmur ye , as some of them also murmured , and were destroyed of the destroyer .

so being affectionately desirous of you , we were willing to have imparted unto you , not the gospel of god only , but also our own souls , because ye were dear unto us .

and they compel one simon a cyrenian , who passed by , coming out of the country , the father of alexander and rufus , to bear his cross .
he hath blinded their eyes , and hardened their heart ; that they should not see with their eyes , nor understand with their heart , and be converted , and i should heal them .
for before these days rose up theudas , boasting himself to be somebody ; to whom a number of men , about four hundred , joined themselves : who was slain ; and all , as many as obeyed him , were scattered , and brought to nought .
then jesus said unto them , yet a little while is the light with you . walk while ye have the light , lest darkness come upon you : for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth .
but festus , willing to do the jews a pleasure , answered paul , and said , wilt thou go up to jerusalem , and there be judged of these things before me ?
one of the servants of the high priest , being his kinsman whose ear peter cut off , saith , did not i see thee in the garden with him ?
and jesus went about all galilee , teaching in their synagogues , and preaching the gospel of the kingdom , and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people .
and lest i should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations , there was given to me a thorn in the flesh , the messenger of satan to buffet me , lest i should be exalted above measure .
and when they saw some of his disciples eat bread with defiled , that is to say , with unwashen , hands , they found fault .
and with many other words did he testify and exhort , saying , save yourselves from this untoward generation .
and what concord hath christ with belial ? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel ?
they did eat , they drank , they married wives , they were given in marriage , until the day that noe entered into the ark , and the flood came , and destroyed them all .
and this is life eternal , that they might know thee the only true god , and jesus christ , whom thou hast sent .
and the cares of this world , and the deceitfulness of riches , and the lusts of other things entering in , choke the word , and it becometh unfruitful .
and there came a voice to him , rise , peter ; kill , and eat .
and when the days of her purification according to the law of moses were accomplished , they brought him to jerusalem , to present him to the lord .
but jerusalem which is above is free , which is the mother of us all .
what is it therefore ? the multitude must needs come together : for they will hear that thou art come .
for though we walk in the flesh , we do not war after the flesh .
and they brought the colt to jesus , and cast their garments on him ; and he sat upon him .
behold , i shew you a mystery ; we shall not all sleep , but we shall all be changed .
they say unto him , caesar ' s . then saith he unto them , render therefore unto caesar the things which are caesar ' s ; and unto god the things that are god ' s .
and whosoever of you will be the chiefest , shall be servant of all .
woe unto you , scribes and pharisees , hypocrites ! for ye are as graves which appear not , and the men that walk over them are not aware of them .
then said the jews , will he kill himself ? because he saith , whither i go , ye cannot come .
yea , and if i be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith , i joy , and rejoice with you all .
for i speak to you gentiles , inasmuch as i am the apostle of the gentiles , i magnify mine office .
whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child , the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven .
and others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings , yea , moreover of bonds and imprisonment .
some therefore cried one thing , and some another : for the assembly was confused ; and the more part knew not wherefore they were come together .
and they went their way , and found the colt tied by the door without in a place where two ways met ; and they loose him .
and no man was able to answer him a word , neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions .
and being fully persuaded that , what he had promised , he was able also to perform .
therefore herodias had a quarrel against him , and would have killed him ; but she could not .
and he said unto them , the sabbath was made for man , and not man for the sabbath .
is any sick among you ? let him call for the elders of the church ; and let them pray over him , anointing him with oil in the name of the lord .
and he said unto them , go ye , and tell that fox , behold , i cast out devils , and i do cures to day and to morrow , and the third day i shall be perfected .
and beholding the man which was healed standing with them , they could say nothing against it .
then the devil taketh him up into the holy city , and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple .
of sin , because they believe not on me .
was not abraham our father justified by works , when he had offered isaac his son upon the altar ?
and his inward affection is more abundant toward you , whilst he remembereth the obedience of you all , how with fear and trembling ye received him .
and all the brethren which are with me , unto the churches of galatia .
and the second is like , namely this , thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself . there is none other commandment greater than these .
and when he went forth to land , there met him out of the city a certain man , which had devils long time , and ware no clothes , neither abode in any house , but in the tombs .
the blind receive their sight , and the lame walk , the lepers are cleansed , and the deaf hear , the dead are raised up , and the poor have the gospel preached to them .
so then if , while her husband liveth , she be married to another man , she shall be called an adulteress : but if her husband be dead , she is free from that law ; so that she is no adulteress , though she be married to another man .
now ye are full , now ye are rich , ye have reigned as kings without us : and i would to god ye did reign , that we also might reign with you .
these words spake jesus , and lifted up his eyes to heaven , and said , father , the hour is come ; glorify thy son , that thy son also may glorify thee .
and why stand we in jeopardy every hour ?
let such an one think this , that , such as we are in word by letters when we are absent , such will we be also in deed when we are present .
but when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council , they conferred among themselves .
and in them is fulfilled the prophecy of esaias , which saith , by hearing ye shall hear , and shall not understand ; and seeing ye shall see , and shall not perceive .
and they came with haste , and found mary , and joseph , and the babe lying in a manger .
providing for honest things , not only in the sight of the lord , but also in the sight of men .
for if the ministration of condemnation be glory , much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory .
whereupon as i went to damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests .
but while he thought on these things , behold , the angel of the lord appeared unto him in a dream , saying , joseph , thou son of david , fear not to take unto thee mary thy wife : for that which is conceived in her is of the holy ghost .
many therefore of his disciples , when they had heard this , said , this is an hard saying ; who can hear it ?
and he that saw it bare record , and his record is true : and he knoweth that he saith true , that ye might believe .
and there went out unto him all the land of judaea , and they of jerusalem , and were all baptized of him in the river of jordan , confessing their sins .
as is the earthy , such are they also that are earthy : and as is the heavenly , such are they also that are heavenly .
for we dare not make ourselves of the number , or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves : but they measuring themselves by themselves , and comparing themselves among themselves , are not wise .
for whether is easier , to say , thy sins be forgiven thee ; or to say , arise , and walk ?
then answered the jews and said unto him , what sign shewest thou unto us , seeing that thou doest these things ?
which of you convinceth me of sin ? and if i say the truth , why do ye not believe me ?
and when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared , and no small tempest lay on us , all hope that we should be saved was then taken away .
he answered and said , whether he be a sinner or no , i know not : one thing i know , that , whereas i was blind , now i see .
brethren , let every man , wherein he is called , therein abide with god .
this is the third time i am coming to you . in the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established .
what ? know ye not that your body is the temple of the holy ghost which is in you , which ye have of god , and ye are not your own ?
whereunto i am appointed a preacher , and an apostle , and a teacher of the gentiles .
and a man ' s foes shall be they of his own household .
for i will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name ' s sake .
for as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse : for it is written , cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them .
beginning from the baptism of john , unto that same day that he was taken up from us , must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection .
and they said unto them even as jesus had commanded : and they let them go .
so when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption , and this mortal shall have put on immortality , then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written , death is swallowed up in victory .
that the saying might be fulfilled , which he spake , of them which thou gavest me have i lost none .
saying , sir , we remember that that deceiver said , while he was yet alive , after three days i will rise again .
how god anointed jesus of nazareth with the holy ghost and with power : who went about doing good , and healing all that were oppressed of the devil ; for god was with him .
for one believeth that he may eat all things : another , who is weak , eateth herbs .
whoso eateth my flesh , and drinketh my blood , hath eternal life ; and i will raise him up at the last day .
but when divers were hardened , and believed not , but spake evil of that way before the multitude , he departed from them , and separated the disciples , disputing daily in the school of one tyrannus .
but when it pleased god , who separated me from my mother ' s womb , and called me by his grace .
and sold their possessions and goods , and parted them to all men , as every man had need .
now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum : we have such an high priest , who is set on the right hand of the throne of the majesty in the heavens .
and if thy foot offend thee , cut it off : it is better for thee to enter halt into life , than having two feet to be cast into hell , into the fire that never shall be quenched .
when they heard that , they were cut to the heart , and took counsel to slay them .
have all the gifts of healing ? do all speak with tongues ? do all interpret ?
wherefore we labour , that , whether present or absent , we may be accepted of him .
the same day there came certain of the pharisees , saying unto him , get thee out , and depart hence : for herod will kill thee .
but the multitude of the city was divided : and part held with the jews , and part with the apostles .
but the jews which believed not , moved with envy , took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort , and gathered a company , and set all the city on an uproar , and assaulted the house of jason , and sought to bring them out to the people .
it is like a grain of mustard seed , which a man took , and cast into his garden ; and it grew , and waxed a great tree ; and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it .
and as concerning that he raised him up from the dead , now no more to return to corruption , he said on this wise , i will give you the sure mercies of david .
there were together simon peter , and thomas called didymus , and nathanael of cana in galilee , and the sons of zebedee , and two other of his disciples .
and , behold , there was a man named joseph , a counsellor ; and he was a good man , and a just .
and tychicus have i sent to ephesus .
upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store , as god hath prospered him , that there be no gatherings when i come .
but jesus said unto him , follow me ; and let the dead bury their dead .
bless them that curse you , and pray for them which despitefully use you .
but he that shall blaspheme against the holy ghost hath never forgiveness , but is in danger of eternal damnation .
for so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our lord and saviour jesus christ .
for the lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout , with the voice of the archangel , and with the trump of god : and the dead in christ shall rise first .
the queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation , and condemn them : for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of solomon ; and , behold , a greater than solomon is here .
brethren , if a man be overtaken in a fault , ye which are spiritual , restore such an one in the spirit of meekness ; considering thyself , lest thou also be tempted .
for it is written , he shall give his angels charge over thee , to keep thee .
for they being ignorant of god ' s righteousness , and going about to establish their own righteousness , have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of god .
for every creature of god is good , and nothing to be refused , if it be received with thanksgiving .
as he spake to our fathers , to abraham , and to his seed for ever .
this people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth , and honoureth me with their lips ; but their heart is far from me .
and he said , unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of god : but to others in parables ; that seeing they might not see , and hearing they might not understand .
speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs , singing and making melody in your heart to the lord .
and i heard a voice saying unto me , arise , peter ; slay and eat .
let us not therefore judge one another any more : but judge this rather , that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother ' s way .
and they began to enquire among themselves , which of them it was that should do this thing .
and jesus being full of the holy ghost returned from jordan , and was led by the spirit into the wilderness .
if any man or woman that believeth have widows , let them relieve them , and let not the church be charged ; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed .
and brought them out , and said , sirs , what must i do to be saved ?
now jacob ' s well was there . jesus therefore , being wearied with his journey , sat thus on the well : and it was about the sixth hour .
for this cause therefore have i called for you , to see you , and to speak with you : because that for the hope of israel i am bound with this chain .
and he spake this parable unto them , saying .
and the day following paul went in with us unto james ; and all the elders were present .
for we are his workmanship , created in christ jesus unto good works , which god hath before ordained that we should walk in them .
for every man shall bear his own burden .
looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of god ; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you , and thereby many be defiled .
god is faithful , by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his son jesus christ our lord .
if any of you lack wisdom , let him ask of god , that giveth to all men liberally , and upbraideth not ; and it shall be given him .
and they glorified god in me .
and he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples , and said , behold my mother and my brethren !
and he said , the jews have agreed to desire thee that thou wouldest bring down paul to morrow into the council , as though they would enquire somewhat of him more perfectly .
according to the glorious gospel of the blessed god , which was committed to my trust .
i have confidence in you through the lord , that ye will be none otherwise minded : but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment , whosoever he be .
and when jesus had cried with a loud voice , he said , father , into thy hands i commend my spirit : and having said thus , he gave up the ghost .
saying , master , moses wrote unto us , if any man ' s brother die , having a wife , and he die without children , that his brother should take his wife , and raise up seed unto his brother .
forbidding to marry , and commanding to abstain from meats , which god hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth .
and when the centurion , which stood over against him , saw that he so cried out , and gave up the ghost , he said , truly this man was the son of god .
but jesus said unto them , they need not depart ; give ye them to eat .
wherefore i also , after i heard of your faith in the lord jesus , and love unto all the saints .
and jesus said , i am : and ye shall see the son of man sitting on the right hand of power , and coming in the clouds of heaven .
they brought to the pharisees him that aforetime was blind .
and they went , and found as he had said unto them : and they made ready the passover .
and saying , thou that destroyest the temple , and buildest it in three days , save thyself . if thou be the son of god , come down from the cross .
now jesus was not yet come into the town , but was in that place where martha met him .
and when they come from the market , except they wash , they eat not . and many other things there be , which they have received to hold , as the washing of cups , and pots , brasen vessels , and of tables .
now after that john was put in prison , jesus came into galilee , preaching the gospel of the kingdom of god .
now therefore why tempt ye god , to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples , which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear ?
for this is he that was spoken of by the prophet esaias , saying , the voice of one crying in the wilderness , prepare ye the way of the lord , make his paths straight .
seeing it is a righteous thing with god to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you .
and they brought it . and he saith unto them , whose is this image and superscription ? and they said unto him , caesar ' s .
and when the pharisees saw it , they said unto his disciples , why eateth your master with publicans and sinners ?
so i sware in my wrath , they shall not enter into my rest . )
and he shall go before him in the spirit and power of elias , to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children , and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just ; to make ready a people prepared for the lord .
blessed is that servant , whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing .
now when he had left speaking , he said unto simon , launch out into the deep , and let down your nets for a draught .
saying unto them , go into the village over against you , and straightway ye shall find an ass tied , and a colt with her : loose them , and bring them unto me .
and the remnant took his servants , and entreated them spitefully , and slew them .
and they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep .
there was a division therefore again among the jews for these sayings .
even as david also describeth the blessedness of the man , unto whom god imputeth righteousness without works .
for thou bringest certain strange things to our ears : we would know therefore what these things mean .
and jesus answered and said , while he taught in the temple , how say the scribes that christ is the son of david ?
labour not for the meat which perisheth , but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life , which the son of man shall give unto you : for him hath god the father sealed .
for since by man came death , by man came also the resurrection of the dead .
the grace of our lord jesus christ be with you . amen .
and what he hath seen and heard , that he testifieth ; and no man receiveth his testimony .
and as they departed , jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning john , what went ye out into the wilderness to see ? a reed shaken with the wind ?
go ye therefore into the highways , and as many as ye shall find , bid to the marriage .
after this i will return , and will build again the tabernacle of david , which is fallen down ; and i will build again the ruins thereof , and i will set it up .
and he took him by the right hand , and lifted him up : and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength .
then said jesus again unto them , i go my way , and ye shall seek me , and shall die in your sins : whither i go , ye cannot come .
for unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come , whereof we speak .
your riches are corrupted , and your garments are motheaten .
jesus saith unto them , my meat is to do the will of him that sent me , and to finish his work .
therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word .
for the son of man shall come in the glory of his father with his angels ; and then he shall reward every man according to his works .
likewise , ye husbands , dwell with them according to knowledge , giving honour unto the wife , as unto the weaker vessel , and as being heirs together of the grace of life ; that your prayers be not hindered .
for the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country , who called his own servants , and delivered unto them his goods .
the people answered and said , thou hast a devil : who goeth about to kill thee ?
and he turned to the woman , and said unto simon , seest thou this woman ? i entered into thine house , thou gavest me no water for my feet : but she hath washed my feet with tears , and wiped them with the hairs of her head .
and very early in the morning the first day of the week , they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun .
that ye might walk worthy of the lord unto all pleasing , being fruitful in every good work , and increasing in the knowledge of god .
but if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of god , what shall we say ? is god unrighteous who taketh vengeance ? ( i speak as a man )
and he charged them , saying , take heed , beware of the leaven of the pharisees , and of the leaven of herod .
and they that kept them fled , and went their ways into the city , and told every thing , and what was befallen to the possessed of the devils .
then was jesus led up of the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil .
to the general assembly and church of the firstborn , which are written in heaven , and to god the judge of all , and to the spirits of just men made perfect .
and this continued by the space of two years ; so that all they which dwelt in asia heard the word of the lord jesus , both jews and greeks .
and they truly were many priests , because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death .
then said he unto them , nation shall rise against nation , and kingdom against kingdom .
for they that are such serve not our lord jesus christ , but their own belly ; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple .
who also declared unto us your love in the spirit .
and jesus answering said , were there not ten cleansed ? but where are the nine ?
for by thy words thou shalt be justified , and by thy words thou shalt be condemned .
now when we had discovered cyprus , we left it on the left hand , and sailed into syria , and landed at tyre : for there the ship was to unlade her burden .
and we have sent with him the brother , whose praise is in the gospel throughout all the churches .
and returned from the sepulchre , and told all these things unto the eleven , and to all the rest .
give us day by day our daily bread .
that as sin hath reigned unto death , even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by jesus christ our lord .
that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by esaias the prophet , saying , himself took our infirmities , and bare our sicknesses .

master , which is the great commandment in the law ?
and they took him , and brought him unto areopagus , saying , may we know what this new doctrine , whereof thou speakest , is ?
and they drew nigh unto the village , whither they went : and he made as though he would have gone further .
nevertheless what saith the scripture ? cast out the bondwoman and her son : for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman .
but if any provide not for his own , and specially for those of his own house , he hath denied the faith , and is worse than an infidel .
speak not evil one of another , brethren . he that speaketh evil of his brother , and judgeth his brother , speaketh evil of the law , and judgeth the law : but if thou judge the law , thou art not a doer of the law , but a judge .
for unto us was the gospel preached , as well as unto them : but the word preached did not profit them , not being mixed with faith in them that heard it .
is it lawful for us to give tribute unto caesar , or no ?
that which i speak , i speak it not after the lord , but as it were foolishly , in this confidence of boasting .
the son of man shall send forth his angels , and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend , and them which do iniquity .
submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of god .
and it came to pass , as he sat at meat with them , he took bread , and blessed it , and brake , and gave to them .
now the god of peace , that brought again from the dead our lord jesus , that great shepherd of the sheep , through the blood of the everlasting covenant .
that which is born of the flesh is flesh ; and that which is born of the spirit is spirit .
now while paul waited for them at athens , his spirit was stirred in him , when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry .
simon peter therefore beckoned to him , that he should ask who it should be of whom he spake .
and it came to pass on the second sabbath after the first , that he went through the corn fields ; and his disciples plucked the ears of corn , and did eat , rubbing them in their hands .
whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation ; of him also shall the son of man be ashamed , when he cometh in the glory of his father with the holy angels .
john answered them , saying , i baptize with water : but there standeth one among you , whom ye know not .
and when all things shall be subdued unto him , then shall the son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him , that god may be all in all .
and in the same house remain , eating and drinking such things as they give : for the labourer is worthy of his hire . go not from house to house .
ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears , ye do always resist the holy ghost : as your fathers did , so do ye .
for david is not ascended into the heavens : but he saith himself , the lord said unto my lord , sit thou on my right hand .
as for saul , he made havock of the church , entering into every house , and haling men and women committed them to prison .
when your fathers tempted me , proved me , and saw my works forty years .
whom god hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood , to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past , through the forbearance of god .
and into whatsoever city ye enter , and they receive you , eat such things as are set before you .
she hath done what she could : she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying .
and said , this fellow said , i am able to destroy the temple of god , and to build it in three days .
but he that is joined unto the lord is one spirit .
and when they were gone over , they came into the land of gennesaret .
lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping .
now then it is no more i that do it , but sin that dwelleth in me .
ye know that ye were gentiles , carried away unto these dumb idols , even as ye were led .
when they heard these things , they were cut to the heart , and they gnashed on him with their teeth .
and sounded , and found it twenty fathoms : and when they had gone a little further , they sounded again , and found it fifteen fathoms .
then jesus went thence , and departed into the coasts of tyre and sidon .
by faith abraham , when he was tried , offered up isaac : and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son .
verily , verily , i say unto thee , we speak that we do know , and testify that we have seen ; and ye receive not our witness .
then said mary unto the angel , how shall this be , seeing i know not a man ?
then the high priest rent his clothes , and saith , what need we any further witnesses ?
for of him , and through him , and to him , are all things : to whom be glory for ever . amen .
if ye continue in the faith grounded and settled , and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel , which ye have heard , and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven ; whereof i paul am made a minister .
i can of mine own self do nothing : as i hear , i judge : and my judgment is just ; because i seek not mine own will , but the will of the father which hath sent me .
so when this was done , others also , which had diseases in the island , came , and were healed .
this witness is true . wherefore rebuke them sharply , that they may be sound in the faith .
endeavouring to keep the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace .
i verily thought with myself , that i ought to do many things contrary to the name of jesus of nazareth .
there cometh a woman of samaria to draw water : jesus saith unto her , give me to drink .
not given to wine , no striker , not greedy of filthy lucre ; but patient , not a brawler , not covetous .
and when the sabbath was past , mary magdalene , and mary the mother of james , and salome , had bought sweet spices , that they might come and anoint him .
let their eyes be darkened , that they may not see , and bow down their back alway .
for i have given unto them the words which thou gavest me ; and they have received them , and have known surely that i came out from thee , and they have believed that thou didst send me .
and if any man obey not our word by this epistle , note that man , and have no company with him , that he may be ashamed .
rejoice ye in that day , and leap for joy : for , behold , your reward is great in heaven : for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets .
in those days came john the baptist , preaching in the wilderness of judaea .
thou hypocrite , first cast out the beam out of thine own eye ; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother ' s eye .
but when the comforter is come , whom i will send unto you from the father , even the spirit of truth , which proceedeth from the father , he shall testify of me .
whom we preach , warning every man , and teaching every man in all wisdom ; that we may present every man perfect in christ jesus .
a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump .
and he came into all the country about jordan , preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins .
and forgive us our sins ; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us . and lead us not into temptation ; but deliver us from evil .
and we were in all in the ship two hundred threescore and sixteen souls .
and he opened his mouth , and taught them , saying .
now when they were going , behold , some of the watch came into the city , and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done .
the jews then which were with her in the house , and comforted her , when they saw mary , that she rose up hastily and went out , followed her , saying , she goeth unto the grave to weep there .
and five of them were wise , and five were foolish .
who gave himself for our sins , that he might deliver us from this present evil world , according to the will of god and our father .
woe unto you , scribes and pharisees , hypocrites ! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres , which indeed appear beautiful outward , but are within full of dead men ' s bones , and of all uncleanness .
and he said , i tell thee , peter , the cock shall not crow this day , before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me .
then asked they him , what man is that which said unto thee , take up thy bed , and walk ?
think not that i am come to destroy the law , or the prophets : i am not come to destroy , but to fulfil .
thou hast made known to me the ways of life ; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance .
thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet . for in that he put all in subjection under him , he left nothing that is not put under him . but now we see not yet all things put under him .
then sent joseph , and called his father jacob to him , and all his kindred , threescore and fifteen souls .
and this voice which came from heaven we heard , when we were with him in the holy mount .
but woe unto you , scribes and pharisees , hypocrites ! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men : for ye neither go in yourselves , neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in .
and the next day he shewed himself unto them as they strove , and would have set them at one again , saying , sirs , ye are brethren ; why do ye wrong one to another ?
a double minded man is unstable in all his ways .
now the next day , that followed the day of the preparation , the chief priests and pharisees came together unto pilate .
in damascus the governor under aretas the king kept the city of the damascenes with a garrison , desirous to apprehend me .
and that because of false brethren unawares brought in , who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in christ jesus , that they might bring us into bondage .
brethren , if any of you do err from the truth , and one convert him .
for it pleased the father that in him should all fulness dwell .
and he asked his father , how long is it ago since this came unto him ? and he said , of a child .
howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge : for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol ; and their conscience being weak is defiled .
( for until the law sin was in the world : but sin is not imputed when there is no law .
wherefore , if god so clothe the grass of the field , which to day is , and to morrow is cast into the oven , shall he not much more clothe you , o ye of little faith ?
then let them which be in judaea flee into the mountains .
this charge i commit unto thee , son timothy , according to the prophecies which went before on thee , that thou by them mightest war a good warfare .
and when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things , he said unto him , blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of god .
and this shall be a sign unto you ; ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes , lying in a manger .
and when the pharisee saw it , he marvelled that he had not first washed before dinner .
( for as yet he was fallen upon none of them : only they were baptized in the name of the lord jesus . )
but christ being come an high priest of good things to come , by a greater and more perfect tabernacle , not made with hands , that is to say , not of this building .
to whom our fathers would not obey , but thrust him from them , and in their hearts turned back again into egypt .
and shall not god avenge his own elect , which cry day and night unto him , though he bear long with them ?
for some , when they had heard , did provoke : howbeit not all that came out of egypt by moses .
but they understood not that saying , and were afraid to ask him .
but not as the offence , so also is the free gift . for if through the offence of one many be dead , much more the grace of god , and the gift by grace , which is by one man , jesus christ , hath abounded unto many .
verily , verily , i say unto you , he that believeth on me hath everlasting life .
for the son of man is as a man taking a far journey , who left his house , and gave authority to his servants , and to every man his work , and commanded the porter to watch .
and thence sailed to antioch , from whence they had been recommended to the grace of god for the work which they fulfilled .
others said , that it is elias . and others said , that it is a prophet , or as one of the prophets .
and did all eat the same spiritual meat .
i think myself happy , king agrippa , because i shall answer for myself this day before thee touching all the things whereof i am accused of the jews .
and he said , lord , i believe . and he worshipped him .
i have fought a good fight , i have finished my course , i have kept the faith .
( according as it is written , god hath given them the spirit of slumber , eyes that they should not see , and ears that they should not hear ; ) unto this day .
and they stirred up the people , and the elders , and the scribes , and came upon him , and caught him , and brought him to the council .
when pilate therefore heard that saying , he brought jesus forth , and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the pavement , but in the hebrew , gabbatha .
but he answered her not a word . and his disciples came and besought him , saying , send her away ; for she crieth after us .
and saul was consenting unto his death . and at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at jerusalem ; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of judaea and samaria , except the apostles .
verily , verily , i say unto you , he that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold , but climbeth up some other way , the same is a thief and a robber .
even so faith , if it hath not works , is dead , being alone .
i indeed have baptized you with water : but he shall baptize you with the holy ghost .
to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was joseph , of the house of david ; and the virgin ' s name was mary .
and these are they by the way side , where the word is sown ; but when they have heard , satan cometh immediately , and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts .
now his parents went to jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover .
now unto god and our father be glory for ever and ever . amen .
and when jesus knew it , he saith unto them , why reason ye , because ye have no bread ? perceive ye not yet , neither understand ? have ye your heart yet hardened ?
then took they up stones to cast at him : but jesus hid himself , and went out of the temple , going through the midst of them , and so passed by .
but the hour cometh , and now is , when the true worshippers shall worship the father in spirit and in truth : for the father seeketh such to worship him .
but take ye heed : behold , i have foretold you all things .
and be found in him , not having mine own righteousness , which is of the law , but that which is through the faith of christ , the righteousness which is of god by faith .
the baptism of john , whence was it ? from heaven , or of men ? and they reasoned with themselves , saying , if we shall say , from heaven ; he will say unto us , why did ye not then believe him ?
but by what means he now seeth , we know not ; or who hath opened his eyes , we know not : he is of age ; ask him : he shall speak for himself .
and john calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to jesus , saying , art thou he that should come ? or look we for another ?
and thou shalt love the lord thy god with all thy heart , and with all thy soul , and with all thy mind , and with all thy strength : this is the first commandment .
nevertheless , whereto we have already attained , let us walk by the same rule , let us mind the same thing .
then saith he to thomas , reach hither thy finger , and behold my hands ; and reach hither thy hand , and thrust it into my side : and be not faithless , but believing .
and saith unto him , all these things will i give thee , if thou wilt fall down and worship me .
let not your heart be troubled : ye believe in god , believe also in me .
she saith unto him , yea , lord : i believe that thou art the christ , the son of god , which should come into the world .
and ran through that whole region round about , and began to carry about in beds those that were sick , where they heard he was .
jesus saith unto him , i am the way , the truth , and the life : no man cometh unto the father , but by me .
wherefore also it is contained in the scripture , behold , i lay in sion a chief corner stone , elect , precious : and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded .
and when he was at the place , he said unto them , pray that ye enter not into temptation .
having land , sold it , and brought the money , and laid it at the apostles ' feet .
from whence come wars and fightings among you ? come they not hence , even of your lusts that war in your members ?
for we ourselves also were sometimes foolish , disobedient , deceived , serving divers lusts and pleasures , living in malice and envy , hateful , and hating one another .
for every one that asketh receiveth ; and he that seeketh findeth ; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened .
for mine eyes have seen thy salvation .
and there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain : and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them . and he suffered them .
and did all drink the same spiritual drink : for they drank of that spiritual rock that followed them : and that rock was christ .
this was the lord ' s doing , and it is marvellous in our eyes ?
who both killed the lord jesus , and their own prophets , and have persecuted us ; and they please not god , and are contrary to all men .
saying , if thou hadst known , even thou , at least in this thy day , the things which belong unto thy peace ! but now they are hid from thine eyes .
then herod , when he had privily called the wise men , enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared .
and when they were come , and had gathered the church together , they rehearsed all that god had done with them , and how he had opened the door of faith unto the gentiles .
then said paul , i wist not , brethren , that he was the high priest : for it is written , thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people .
and he received the sign of circumcision , a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised : that he might be the father of all them that believe , though they be not circumcised ; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also .
therefore take no thought , saying , what shall we eat ? or , what shall we drink ? or , wherewithal shall we be clothed ?
and there was a cloud that overshadowed them : and a voice came out of the cloud , saying , this is my beloved son : hear him .
they said therefore unto him , what sign shewest thou then , that we may see , and believe thee ? what dost thou work ?
therefore be ye also ready : for in such an hour as ye think not the son of man cometh .
and as they spake unto the people , the priests , and the captain of the temple , and the sadducees , came upon them .
and if any man hear my words , and believe not , i judge him not : for i came not to judge the world , but to save the world .
and they talked together of all these things which had happened .
in whom ye also trusted , after that ye heard the word of truth , the gospel of your salvation : in whom also after that ye believed , ye were sealed with that holy spirit of promise .
and when they looked , they saw that the stone was rolled away : for it was very great .
after this there was a feast of the jews ; and jesus went up to jerusalem .
and after certain days king agrippa and bernice came unto caesarea to salute festus .
and he said likewise to him , be thou also over five cities .
behold , your house is left unto you desolate .
now the god of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing , that ye may abound in hope , through the power of the holy ghost .
for i am in a strait betwixt two , having a desire to depart , and to be with christ ; which is far better .
alexander the coppersmith did me much evil : the lord reward him according to his works .
o the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of god ! how unsearchable are his judgments , and his ways past finding out !
and he answered and said , he that dippeth his hand with me in the dish , the same shall betray me .
and sent messengers before his face : and they went , and entered into a village of the samaritans , to make ready for him .
and the gospel must first be published among all nations .
for he knew that for envy they had delivered him .
and if ye do good to them which do good to you , what thank have ye ? for sinners also do even the same .
and they that stood by said , revilest thou god ' s high priest ?
and the one of them , whose name was cleopas , answering said unto him , art thou only a stranger in jerusalem , and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days ?
and if a house be divided against itself , that house cannot stand .
now some are puffed up , as though i would not come to you .
i said therefore unto you , that ye shall die in your sins : for if ye believe not that i am he , ye shall die in your sins .
then shall two be in the field ; the one shall be taken , and the other left .
and jesus said unto them , come ye after me , and i will make you to become fishers of men .
and he was sad at that saying , and went away grieved : for he had great possessions .
then said they all , art thou then the son of god ? and he said unto them , ye say that i am .
paul and timotheus , the servants of jesus christ , to all the saints in christ jesus which are at philippi , with the bishops and deacons .
then came his disciples , and said unto him , knowest thou that the pharisees were offended , after they heard this saying ?
then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their father . who hath ears to hear , let him hear .
now if any man build upon this foundation gold , silver , precious stones , wood , hay , stubble .
that ye abstain from meats offered to idols , and from blood , and from things strangled , and from fornication : from which if ye keep yourselves , ye shall do well . fare ye well .
which was the son of cainan , which was the son of arphaxad , which was the son of sem , which was the son of noe , which was the son of lamech .
the churches of asia salute you . aquila and priscilla salute you much in the lord , with the church that is in their house .
the people which sat in darkness saw great light ; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up .
but rather seek ye the kingdom of god ; and all these things shall be added unto you .
when jesus therefore saw her weeping , and the jews also weeping which came with her , he groaned in the spirit , and was troubled .
but he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh ; but he of the freewoman was by promise .
for we are labourers together with god : ye are god ' s husbandry , ye are god ' s building .
and in the morning , as they passed by , they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots .
but and if ye suffer for righteousness ' sake , happy are ye : and be not afraid of their terror , neither be troubled .
and began to salute him , hail , king of the jews !
for ye were as sheep going astray ; but are now returned unto the shepherd and bishop of your souls .
but they had heard only , that he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed .
he answered them , he that made me whole , the same said unto me , take up thy bed , and walk .
upon the which when i had fastened mine eyes , i considered , and saw fourfooted beasts of the earth , and wild beasts , and creeping things , and fowls of the air .
and one of them , when he saw that he was healed , turned back , and with a loud voice glorified god .
as ye have therefore received christ jesus the lord , so walk ye in him .
the salutation of paul with mine own hand , which is the token in every epistle : so i write .
and they reasoned among themselves , saying , it is because we have taken no bread .
no man hath seen god at any time ; the only begotten son , which is in the bosom of the father , he hath declared him .
he answereth him , and saith , o faithless generation , how long shall i be with you ? how long shall i suffer you ? bring him unto me .
and said , verily i say unto you , except ye be converted , and become as little children , ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven .
then came jesus forth , wearing the crown of thorns , and the purple robe . and pilate saith unto them , behold the man !
this is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation .
the same followed paul and us , and cried , saying , these men are the servants of the most high god , which shew unto us the way of salvation .
and he taught , saying unto them , is it not written , my house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer ? but ye have made it a den of thieves .
and as jesus passed by , he saw a man which was blind from his birth .
then answered all the people , and said , his blood be on us , and on our children .
not a novice , lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil .
for there is no respect of persons with god .
and when he was full forty years old , it came into his heart to visit his brethren the children of israel .
and i knew him not : but he that sent me to baptize with water , the same said unto me , upon whom thou shalt see the spirit descending , and remaining on him , the same is he which baptizeth with the holy ghost .
i say again , let no man think me a fool ; if otherwise , yet as a fool receive me , that i may boast myself a little .
and i said , who art thou , lord ? and he said , i am jesus whom thou persecutest .
and he said unto him , thy brother is come ; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf , because he hath received him safe and sound .
conscience , i say , not thine own , but of the other : for why is my liberty judged of another man ' s conscience ?
and many believed on him there .
woe unto you , ye blind guides , which say , whosoever shall swear by the temple , it is nothing ; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple , he is a debtor !
i wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators .
and they held their peace . and he took him , and healed him , and let him go .
and i say unto you , make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness ; that , when ye fail , they may receive you into everlasting habitations .
and they had no child , because that elisabeth was barren , and they both were now well stricken in years .
for this cause , when i could no longer forbear , i sent to know your faith , lest by some means the tempter have tempted you , and our labour be in vain .
as we said before , so say i now again , if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received , let him be accursed .
in whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the lord .
and they troubled the people and the rulers of the city , when they heard these things .
and some fell among thorns ; and the thorns sprung up , and choked them .
this jesus hath god raised up , whereof we all are witnesses .
but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven , where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt , and where thieves do not break through nor steal .
being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in christ jesus .
and about the time of forty years suffered he their manners in the wilderness .
for while one saith , i am of paul ; and another , i am of apollos ; are ye not carnal ?
therefore said the disciples one to another , hath any man brought him ought to eat ?
then went the pharisees , and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk .
ye yourselves bear me witness , that i said , i am not the christ , but that i am sent before him .
i say the truth in christ , i lie not , my conscience also bearing me witness in the holy ghost .
for a man indeed ought not to cover his head , forasmuch as he is the image and glory of god : but the woman is the glory of the man .
but if the unbelieving depart , let him depart . a brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases : but god hath called us to peace .
and it is easier for heaven and earth to pass , than one tittle of the law to fail .
and the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter .
and jesus rebuked the devil ; and he departed out of him : and the child was cured from that very hour .
that he may take part of this ministry and apostleship , from which judas by transgression fell , that he might go to his own place .
and as esaias said before , except the lord of sabaoth had left us a seed , we had been as sodoma , and been made like unto gomorrha .
and jesus answered and said , suffer ye thus far . and he touched his ear , and healed him .
he went to pilate , and begged the body of jesus . then pilate commanded the body to be delivered .
so then he that giveth her in marriage doeth well ; but he that giveth her not in marriage doeth better .
which when jesus perceived , he said unto them , o ye of little faith , why reason ye among yourselves , because ye have brought no bread ?
nathanael answered and saith unto him , rabbi , thou art the son of god ; thou art the king of israel .
but barnabas took him , and brought him to the apostles , and declared unto them how he had seen the lord in the way , and that he had spoken to him , and how he had preached boldly at damascus in the name of jesus .
for it is impossible for those who were once enlightened , and have tasted of the heavenly gift , and were made partakers of the holy ghost .
and he said , woe unto you also , ye lawyers ! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne , and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers .
that the gentiles should be fellowheirs , and of the same body , and partakers of his promise in christ by the gospel .
and saw heaven opened , and a certain vessel descending unto him , as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners , and let down to the earth .
the night is far spent , the day is at hand : let us therefore cast off the works of darkness , and let us put on the armour of light .
if it be possible , as much as lieth in you , live peaceably with all men .
then those men , when they had seen the miracle that jesus did , said , this is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world .
saying , what shall we do to these men ? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in jerusalem ; and we cannot deny it .
doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him ? i trow not .
but the tongue can no man tame ; it is an unruly evil , full of deadly poison .
wherefore putting away lying , speak every man truth with his neighbour : for we are members one of another .
and he said unto him , man , who made me a judge or a divider over you ?
and they that had eaten were about five thousand men , beside women and children .
and he took the cup , and when he had given thanks , he gave it to them : and they all drank of it .
quench not the spirit .
and again he stooped down , and wrote on the ground .
likewise also as it was in the days of lot ; they did eat , they drank , they bought , they sold , they planted , they builded .
and jesus answered and said unto it , no man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever . and his disciples heard it .
so then after the lord had spoken unto them , he was received up into heaven , and sat on the right hand of god .
and they say unto him , we have here but five loaves , and two fishes .
the same came for a witness , to bear witness of the light , that all men through him might believe .
for even the son of man came not to be ministered unto , but to minister , and to give his life a ransom for many .
who will have all men to be saved , and to come unto the knowledge of the truth .
now when festus was come into the province , after three days he ascended from caesarea to jerusalem .
but go ye and learn what that meaneth , i will have mercy , and not sacrifice : for i am not come to call the righteous , but sinners to repentance .
